The long-awaited QuikTrip store, as of the Monday deadline, is set to open on Aug. 4, according to the general contractor of the construction site.

Austin Honeycutt, of Jim Butler Construction, said the company is preparing to turnover the keys to the new building to QuikTrip on July 21. The opening of the store will happen almost two weeks after that date.

On Tursday, Wagoner Mayor Albert Jones showed up to the construction site to get an update on the construction process.

“I am very proud to see how well the Fort Gibson Lake Association and QuikTrip has worked together in improving the curb appeal at the gateway to our city,” Jones said. “World class communities come in all shapes and sizes. We are not determined by geography so much as by the mindset of our local community and business leaders.”

To thank the workers for all their hard work on the project, the Fort Gibson Lake Association provided the workers lunch on Thursday.

Fort Gibson Lake Association Executive Director Patty Stewart said

“I know that they are here working until two or three o’ clock in the morning sometimes,” Stewart said. “I love these guys.”

She also said she is looking forward to the change at the southwest corner of Highways 51 and 69.
